    1. Carolyn Davidson Victoria Bylin Cheryl St. John

Carolyn Davidson began writing in 1986, knowing absolutely nothing about the craft Her first three books were rejected by Harlequin. She met Dixie Browning at a Harlequin dinner in Charleston, South Carolina, and told Dixie she was writing, but that she feared she was too old to begin such an undertaking Dixie s response spurred Carolyn to pursue her dream Dixie said, in her own inimitable fashion, Well, honey, you can t start any younger And she was right.Having spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and working woman, she s privileged to have a career that makes her dreams possible Writing historical romance gives her the opportunity to travel, to visit all those places where our forefathers staked their claim on this country of ours And then she goes home and writes their stories, maybe not exactly as they lived them, but as her imagination portrays them.Carolyn lives in the South, where romance thrives, and where the sun shines almost every day of the year In fact, some days it is difficult to stay glued to her computer, especially when the birds are singing and the flowers are in full bloom. She lives not far from the ocean, close to Charleston, South Carolina, one of the most romantic cities in the world Moreover, time at the beach is easy to come by Does she enjoy her life You bet Harlequin allows her to write the books she loves, and her editor is patient with her quirks and foibles Her family, though scattered in various states, is supportive, and her husband is a constant source of inspiration.

    1. Babies, babies, and babies Each of the novella s had a theme besides Christmas, little babies I really enjoyed the little bundles of joy adding a special something to each story It really showed the struggle that the characters were willing to endure and overcome to reach their HEA A definite read for the Holiday season.

    2. Carolyn Davidson A Christmas Child The blessing of a child even though there is death The gossips of those who feel they must pass what they see as truth The love that can grow from doing the right thing A nice story.Victoria Bylin The Christmas Dove What an awesome story on complete forgiveness Maddie makes a bad choice and leaves town with the gambler, Brodie Returning a year later in shame she runs into Dylan, someone who was a friend but she hurt with her snobbish ways And she did not know i [...]

    3. Another late posting review This short story collection is great for readers who want historical western romance Christmas stories with a baby ies involved in the story Out of the three books, Cheryl St John s story A Baby Blue Christmas was definitely my favorite In this story, we actually get two babies, newborns, who are found in the stable owned by our hero, Turner The heroine is related to their mom, but she allows Turner to assume she is their mother, so she can continue to care for them T [...]

    4. Three wonderful Christmas romances from the old West Very touching. In A Christmas Child , Marianne Winters travels to a distant town in hopes of getting a job to provide for her infant brother The loss of her parents at the time of his birth, put her in charge of the task of raising young Joshua Unable to get the help she thought would be there for her, she tries to find a home for Joshua, knowing she would be unable to keep him on her own Placing him in the church nativity scene, the pastor, Da [...]

    5. Carolyn Davidson s story had some parts that had me scratching my head For instance, the heroine leaves the baby in the manger in front of the church, waits until the pastor picks him up, and then later helps the pastor out with the baby Why not just go to the church and ask for help in the first place instead of risking the baby catching a cold from exposure to the cold air Also, the baby was just a little too perfect Three weeks old and he s already eating on a regular timetable and consistent [...]

    6. Three Christmas stories about babies The first, about a young woman caring for her newnborn brother, was almost impossible for me to get through The second involved being snowbound in a blizzard, so, you know, yay The last, about a woman raising her cousin s abandoned newborn twins, was sweet and lovely.

    7. Boring I stopped in the third chapter of the third story The stories were so unoriginal that the plot line of the third story was beginning so much like the second story with both mothers being discovered in a horse s stable with babies.

    8. Maudlin not Magical While collection of stories are usually a mixed bag this one was not It was uniformly bad Not one ounce of Christmas schmaltz Just whiney characters repeating themselves ad nauseam Blech Not recommended.
