    1. This novel is a lovely, easy to ready story At times I found the lesson came across a little too wordy and obvious But overall a great read with a heart warming ending I received a complementary copy of this book from NetGalley

    2. A Christian children s novel, Diary of a Real Payne is an inspiring novel and great read Emma Jean, known to everyone except her fourth grade teacher as EJ, is known all too well for her daydreaming, and sometimes daydreaming herself into trouble.EJ is a great protagonist, funny and real Sometimes when I read elementary school aged books I feel like they are speaking to a little kid, but Diary of a Real Payne is different Sure, EJ feels like a fourth grader saying hymnal as him nal and asking he [...]

    3. I received a copy of this book from a giveaway What follows is my honest opinion It took me a few chapters to warm up to this book It didn t occur to me that this book was Christian in nature based on the description on the back of the book, but that wasn t a problem at all for me and this book is not too heavy handed and it communicates great values in a fun and engaging way The main character is EJ Payne, a girl going into the fourth grade who has a small problem with letting her imagination r [...]

    4. I m sure there are many kids who will love this book, it s funny and has great characters It s going onto my unfinished shelf not because it doesn t have potential for other readers, but because there are a number of elements that are spoiling the story for me The first issue is the frequent imaginary states EJ gets into I find them embarrassing, disruptive to the story and not enjoyable I tried skipping them, but they are too entwined in the story The second reason I m quitting is the setting A [...]

    5. 6. EJ Payne is a spunky 10 year old girl with a very vivid imagination Her daydreaming often gets her in trouble yet is her coping device to get through tough situations.Annie Tipton has written a fun, silly and encouraging story in Diary of a Real Payne Book 1 True Story I really enjoyed reading it and can t wait to read it to my kids I think my 13 year old daughter will think it s cute and like it because EJ s opinion of her little brother is how my daughter often feels about her little brother M [...]

    7. I Love that when you are reading her diary entries, it is written on what looks like notebook paper so you feel like you REALLY are reading parts of her diary I thought that was unique and fun.I felt like it was written by a child so I hope that is what the author was going for LOL I felt like I was friends with EJ and going through everything with her This book really was funny and captivating. The cover is fun and exciting and makes me want to read it Did you read this book What did you think T [...]

    8. Okay, technically I didn t finish this one I just flipped though it past a certain point largely because I was annoyed about a Christian book that gets the story of Daniel wrong, but also partly because I wasn t in the mood.Flipping through, it s clearly a cute story with a good message regarding the true spirit if Christmas I would have no problem with my kids reading it, but don t really feel the need to own it.We did receive a copy for review.

    9. As a writer, my kudos go to Annie Tipton who wrote a book that I not only enjoyed reading even though I m well beyond the intended audience age range, but that I actually wish I had written It s fun, engaging, and yet so simply sweet and true that I think it could be a classic of the Beverly Cleary kind with her lovable Ramona character We can t wait for the next book in the series

    10. Enjoyed this book so much It is great for kids and adults who love children a like I could so relate to EJ having grown up in a parsonage I loved the fact that this book did not portray a wrong picture for children who would read it It had valuable lessons the kids could learn from in a fun and funny way.

    11. This was a really cute read It was quick and light hearted It s a great book for a younger audience, but still entertaining for older readers, as well I received a copy of this book through a GoodReads giveaway

    12. I received this book free as an early release from first reads on It was enjoyable story to read to the kids, and I m sure that we will read the next book in the series when released The kids really liked the journal entry format in the voice of a child that they can relate too.
