I read this as research for one of my manuscripts, and while I did get a few good ideas and some new information out of it, I can t help wishing that there had been anthropological examples instead of the philosophical I really wanted a concise list of the different shamanistic cultures and their practices.Serge King s essay The Way of the Adventurer was the most interesting and enlightening for me.

This book was recommended to me several years ago, by one of my shamanic teachers while already well past the novice stage of my learning, I still found a lot of valuable information here It is an excellent primer, while also filling in gaps and fleshing out information that will benefit even advanced students and learners.
