Marnie L Pehrson has been writing books since 1994, but she didn t branch into fiction until 2004 Largely influenced by her friend and colleague, Marcia Lynn McClure, Marnie s first foray into fiction was a story about one of her favorite ancestors She pitched the idea for The Patriot Wore Petticoats to her distributor in June of 2003 and had the novel virtually finished by September A labor of love, the story of Marnie s 4th Great Grandmother, Dicey Langston, came in flashes of inspiration that flowed into a story that is now required reading at Langston Charter Middle School in Greenville, SC.Once Marnie dipped her toe into fiction, she never wanted to leave Other Southern novels followed including Waltzing with the Light, Rebecca s Reveries, Beyond the Waterfall, Angel and the Enemy, In Love We Trust, Second Sight and two titles in the Granite LoveNotes series, Hannah s Heart and Savannah Nights.Marnie, who was born and raised in the Chattanooga Tennessee area, is an avid enthusiast of family history She integrates elements of the places, people and events of her Southern family and heritage into her historical fiction novels Marnie s life is steeped in Southern history from the little town of Daisy that she grew up in the setting for Waltzing with the Light to the 24 acres bordering the famous Chickamauga Battlefield upon which her family resides The Chickamauga Battlefield inspired Rebecca s Reveries, In Love We Trust and Marnie s BarnesAndNoble best seller Angel and the Enemy December 2006.In 2004 Marnie and Marcia Lynn McClure formed the CleanRomanceClub because they believe that women deserve a little romance without the shock The club features 9 ebook titles from each author for a total of 18 ebooks possible.Marnie s latest, An Uncertain Justice, is a true story about the last legal hanging in Georgia You can read excerpts of her books at SouthernLit and MarniePehrson.

    1. This is a really fascinating exciting book based on a true story of the author s 4th or 5th great grandmother Dicey Langston who aided the Patriots in the Revolutionary War She saved many lives with the warnings and spying she did Also a sweet love story She ended up having 22 kids I know Strong woman.

    2. It always amazes and inspires me to read stories of ordinary people willing to stand strong and fight for what is right The main character in this book was that type of person Dicey was amazing and what a honor to get to know her from true stories based from her history during the Revolutionary war I am so grateful for people like Dicey and her man Thomas for fighting for our freedom when it comes with a price Very well written patriotic book with a romance mingled in the middle Love it

    3. Puerile and precious Basing her story on a potentially fascinating true life subject, young Laodicea Langston acted as a spy during the Revolutionary War by using her proximity to Tory secrets to assist the Colonists cause, the author turns something that could have been tension fueled into a book one step up from a Harlequin romance The writing and actions of the characters is neither period appropriate nor compelling.

    4. The author wrote this book about her ancestor, Dicey Langston, who was a patriot during the time of the American Revolution Dicey helped the patriot cause by delivering messages and spying on occasion She once saved a whole settlement from destruction by warning them of an attack in time to evacuate This was an easy, and enjoyable read I found myself wishing the author would have embellished the story , or added While I enjoyed it, I found myself wishing for .

    5. I love historical fiction This one was great Loved the history and the story line she took The only regret it ended too soon I wish it could have been full but that would take away from the history of it Wanted

    6. The appeal of this book was that it was based on a true story The real person married the hero and had 22 children Amazing I liked the book, despite the fact the word irregardless was used A little to obviously Mormon but such an interesting stor1y

    7. I really liked this book It is a short, quick read and a true story The story is about a 15 yr old girl who helped warn the rebels about British operations during the Revolutionary War.

    8. I liked this one because it gave facts and was based on true events I like learning something when i read.

    9. This fictional book based on a real person was a quick read I wish I knew what parts were true about her adventures during the Revolutionary War and which were made up.

    10. I enjoyed the main charater in the book and enjoyed reading about her real life She had 20 children which amazed me But the things she did durning he war.
