    1. Fred Penner has been around for many years but I find I don t tire of his music His album the cat came back has a number of infectious songs my own children and now their children sing From Sandwiches are beautiful, Sandwiches are fine to Ghost riders in the Sky with its dark and drumming beat this album has a diversity of material and melody to satisfy everyone listening I didn t find any reviews of this album but suggest it for 4 years old to 4th grade I frequently use the songs from ladybug m [...]

    2. I must admit i liked the cartoon better hnowever the book is very cute it has a humane ending for children i think But i prefer the grim ending Thats just me The illustrations are amazing and we all love cat stories Dont we the sing song style will appeal to children and adults alike.Keeping kids occupied is whatits allabout, and if the book is good it encourages them to read soDING ding ding we have a winner.

    3. Superfun read with the kids Both classes loved it and sang the chorus The illustrations were fantastic and the kids noticed fun little things in the pictures.

    4. The Cat Came Back is a song story, although the verses are not from the version I am most familiar However, I think I actually like them a bit better They still are silly and become progressively sillier, but somehow, they start out kinder, humane Anyway, it s still a funny book. The illustrations for this version are extremely rich and color drenched, and, yes, silly, although the last one, my favorite, is quite sweet This book is an overall winner.

    5. I got this one being familiar with the song from the CBC s version from the 80 s This one is much humane, but since I was singing it, the words didn t fit into the verses well which made it harder to enjoy The illustrations are rich, fun and have lots to explore.

    6. I was a big fan of Fred Penner s show when it aired on Nickelodeon in the 1980s but this song really needs Penner s witty voice singing it It also may be appropriate for older kids who can understand the song is a joke.

    7. I am going to be the wet rag here One of the stanzas of this book was the cat being thrown into the ocean for the old man to get rid of it Just a really bad idea in a kids book who might not comprehend that it will kill the cat.

    8. preschool story time narrative skills, vocabulary building, print motivationThis book is about a cat who gets an old man to take him in The old man tries to build him his own house but the cat keeps coming back The book is filled with repetition that children will love repeating.

    9. 3.5 year old loves it she likes the repetitive song verse part The pictures are very nice Kept 3.5 year olds attention.

    10. I don t know the song by Fred Penner but I didn t like this book nor did my boys ages 4 8 , especially when the man put the cat into a pirate s chest and threw it into the ocean.
